The Broadway, Wimbledon: A Police Incident Disrupts the Town Centre
A bustling section of The Broadway in Wimbledon has been brought to a standstill, with the road completely closed in both directions following a police incident. The closure spans between Gladstone Road and Stanley Road, causing significant disruption in the town centre. Motorists and bus routes 57, 93, 131, and 213 are currently being diverted.
A police car is prominently displayed on the road, with officers managing the situation on-site. Police tape has been used to cordon off parts of the street, leaving the usually lively row of shops and bars along The Broadway deserted. From the vantage point of Sainsbury’s, it's clear that no cars are in sight, emphasizing the extent of the closure.
The incident was first reported around 3 am on February 22, according to AA Maps. As of now, there is no official word on the cause of the incident or when the road is expected to reopen. We will continue to provide updates as more information becomes available.
